Work Tasks
- Travel to college campuses and other places to look for people to recruit for job openings
- Give information about companies and job openings to people who might be interested
- Interview people interested in the job to get their work history, education, training, skills, and salary requirements
- May check personal backgrounds of people and test them
- Work for labor organizations, manufacturers, the government, and services industries such as business, health, social, management, and education
- Work with company policies, job applications, employee records, interviews, survey results, work schedules, time sheets, tests, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws, affirmative action guidelines, and Human Resource Information System (HRIS)

- $64,000 average per year ($30.75 per hour)
- A large occupation (417,900 workers in 2010)
- Expected to grow rapidly (2.8% per year)
Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: A 4-year degree
- Employers Prefer: A degree in human resources or industrial relations, or experience in business or a specific field
- Skills/Courses: Some jobs require knowledge of the field for which staff are being hired. Work experience in that area might be more important to an employer than a degree in a certain subject.
