Work Tasks
- Supervise the production of goods in manufacturing plants
- Hire and supervise workers who make the products
- Check to make sure all products are of high quality and that customers are happy with them
- Make sure products are made within budget and on time
- Work on the shop floor and in offices in plants that make machinery and transportation equipment, instruments, electronic and electrical equipment, fabricated metal products, and food products
- Work with company products, machinery, equipment, statistics, reports, computers, specifications, and testing and analyzing equipment

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: Work experience as a production line supervisor
- Employers Prefer: A master's degree in industrial management or business administration (MBA)

- Certification/Licensing: Certification is available.
