Work Tasks
- Fix and adjust small gas and diesel engines
- Test motors and listen to find problems
- Take motors apart and replace parts as needed
- Fix boat propellers, shafts, and other mechanical parts on boats
- Work in repair shops or outside for boat dealers, marinas, boat yards, or as self-employed
- Work with marine engines, propellers, steering mechanisms, marine plumbing, piston rings, valves, gears, hand and power tools, and electric test meters

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: A high school diploma and courses in machine repair
