Work Tasks
- Make safety programs to prevent or change unsafe conditions in the work place
- Make sure health and safety laws are followed; teach workers about dangers; teach first-aid
- Look for fire hazards, machinery problems, and other risks
- Look at accidents that have happened and make changes so the accidents will not happen again
- Work in offices or at worksites for heavy industry to light manufacturing, service industries, government operations, and insurance companies
- Work with hazard control measures, safety programs, plans, blueprints, drawings, testing equipment, products, materials, and various tools

- $80,500 average per year ($38.75 per hour)

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: A 4-year degree in engineering
- Employers Prefer: A master's degree in safety engineering
- Certification/Licensing: A license may be needed, which requires a degree, 4 years experience, and passing 2 tests.
