Work Tasks
- Plan marketing programs for companies to try and sell as many products as they can
- Hire and train sales staff and tell them ways to sell more products
- Design brochures, exhibits, and other marketing materials and hire sales staff
- Look at sales data and see if customers are happy with the products and if goals are being met
- Work for motor vehicle dealerships, management and consulting firms, public relations firms, printers and publishers, advertising agencies, department stores, computer and data processing services, radio and TV broadcasting stations, and educational institutions
- Work with products, sales and financial records, economic statistics and reports, individual sales ratings and reports, personal interviews, telephone conversations, and forms

- $86,500 average per year ($41.50 per hour)

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: A 4-year degree and sales experience
- Employers Prefer: A master's degree in marketing with work experience or an internship
- Skills/Courses: College courses include business law, economics, accounting, finance, math, and statistics; computer skills are important.
- Certification/Licensing: Certification in marketing management is available.
