- Apply make-up to performers and actors
- Read scripts and decide how make-up should look for a character
- Design special effects to make actors look the part
- Keep records of make-up at different stages in a production
- Work for movie and theater companies, and in all areas of the entertainment industry
- Work with make-up, actors, directors, and designers; wigs, scripts, and special effects

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: On-the-job training
- Employers Prefer: A high school diploma and experience in applying theatrical makeup
