Work Tasks

• Prepare students for vocational/technical jobs
• Teach computer applications, communications technology, construction, manufacturing, and transportation
• Show students how to use tools and technology
• Teach problem-solving skills
• Work in classrooms and labs for public and private schools, colleges, universities, and adult education programs
• Work with lab tools, power equipment, materials needed for student projects, computers, student grades and records, books, audiovisual equipment, and other teaching aides

Education/Training

• Minimum for Entry: A 4-year degree, license, or certificate showing teaching qualifications and expertise in the subject area being taught
• Employers Prefer: A master's degree
• Skills/Courses: College courses include continuing education to maintain certification.
• Certification/Licensing: A certificate or license is required.
