- Make plans for groups of tourists
- Make reservations and arrange special activities
- Go along with the group and tell them about points of interest along the way
- Help people get passports, visas, and to understand the value of money in the country they are visiting
- Work indoors and outdoors for travel companies
- Work with travel plans, schedules, passports, visas, transportation tickets, hotel and meal reservations, customs forms, and foreign currency

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: A high school diploma
- Employers Prefer: Travel guides who have taken college courses such as history, geography, art, or literature
- Skills/Courses: The ability to speak a foreign language is required for travel abroad.
