Work Tasks
- Prune (trim) and care for trees and shrubs
- Improve how trees look and keep them healthy
- Cut out dead branches, get rid of pests, and give the trees nutrients
- Trim trees that are touching electric wires
- Work for themselves, tree service firms, landscaping companies, lawn care businesses, public utility companies, and the government
- Work with chain saws, chippers, power machines, aerial lifts, cranes, winches, stump grinders, earth augers, tree climbing equipment, trucks, pesticides, spray equipment, fertilizer, computers, and diagnostic tools

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: On-the-job training
- Employers Prefer: A 4-year degree in arboriculture and certification

- Certification/Licensing: Certification is required in some states. A commercial driver's license may be required.
