- Look at the script for a TV show and decide how to direct it
- Select cast members and direct their acting
- Direct rehearsals and select scenery, costumes, and music
- Tell technicians what kinds of lights, props, and other equipment to use
- Work for advertising agencies, TV stations, and network entertainment centers mostly in New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles
- Work with scripts, cameras, microphones, scenery, lights, props, costumes, and musical scores
