- Study how much money a business makes and spends
- Suggest ways to make more money
- Make sure budget estimates for the year coming up are complete and correct
- Look at how close estimates turn out to be
- Work for the government, schools, hospitals, banks, other financial institutions, nonprofit organizations, manufacturers, and many other businesses
- Work with past and present budgets, accounting records, and computers
