Work Tasks
- Decide if people need services and benefits such as Medicaid, welfare, food stamps, and medical services
- Take people to group meal sites, adult daycare programs, and doctors' offices and make sure they get the services they need
- Keep case records on people
- Lead group activities and counsel people
- Work for the government, social services agencies, group homes, halfway houses, clinics, drug detox units, community mental health centers, psychiatric hospitals, day treatment programs, and sheltered workshops
- Work with people, client files, applications, documents, and forms

- $33,000 average per year ($15.75 per hour)

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: A certificate or 2-year degree in social work, human services, or related social science
- Employers Prefer: A 4-year degree and work experience in the field.
