- Manage the business affairs of professional athletes
- Try to get the best salary and benefits for athletes
- Choose exercises, rest periods, and diets for athletes
- May find advertisers for athletes to support
- Work for owners of professional sports teams, public and private school systems, colleges and universities
- Work with contracts, proposals, correspondence, financial statements, reports, schedules, and telephones

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: A 4-year degree
- Employers Prefer: A master's degree in sports administration, sports management, sports communication, or sports engineering, an internship, and work experience in a related field
- Skills/Courses: Competition is very stiff and experience in coaching at the high school or college level or as an assistant manager is very important.
