Work Tasks
- Decide who can get welfare and various kinds of social assistance
- Interview people to see if they qualify
- Explain the rules and regulations to people who apply
- Check employers and other references to make sure people have given correct information
- Work for state or local government agencies
- Work with people who apply for public assistance, public assistance programs, forms, questionnaires, computers, telephones, rules, and regulations

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: A high school diploma
- Employers Prefer: A 4-year degree and work experience in a related job such as social work, insurance claims, or employment interviewing
- Skills/Courses: Fluency in a foreign language may be helpful.
