Work Tasks
- Make sure highways and roads are in good and safe condition
- Fill and repair holes and broken places
- Paint stripes, put up guard rails, and clean ditches and drains
- Remove snow, cut grass, pick up litter, and trim trees
- Work outside for public works departments in cities and counties
- Work with asphalt and other materials, rakes, tampers, steam rollers, hand tools, power tools, trucks, snow plows, tractors, and mowers

- $31,500 average per year ($15.25 per hour)

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: On-the-job training, a driver's license, and a good driving record
- Employers Prefer: Experience in maintenance or construction.
