• Write instructions that tell computers the steps to follow to do a task or solve a problem
• Write the steps in computer language
• Enter the program codes into the computer
• Test the program to make sure it works correctly
• Work for data processing organizations, companies that write and sell software, manufacturing firms, government agencies, banks, insurance companies, colleges, and universities
• Work with computers, peripheral equipment, computer programs, printouts, instruction manuals, and computer languages

• Minimum for Entry: A 4-year degree in a computer-related field
