Work Tasks

• Fill orders for customers who have emailed, mailed or called in orders
• Mark the price of items on the order form
• Read orders to get the catalog numbers, size, color, and amount of items
• Get items from shelves and send them to a wrapping area
• Work in factories, warehouses, all types of stores, and mail order houses
• Work with order forms, items ordered by customers, catalogs, and lists of items

• $29,500 average per year ($14.25 per hour)
• A very large occupation (1,796,000 workers in 2010)
• Expected to grow moderately (0.7% per year)

Education/Training

• Minimum for Entry: On-the-job training
• Employers Prefer: A high school diploma
• Skills/Courses: Must be careful and pay attention to details.
