Work Tasks
- Create art and designs for software and Internet web sites that meet customer needs
- Talk with clients to find out what they want
- Decide the most useful format, method, and content, and stay within a budget
- May also design smaller graphics such as logos, product icons, and web program buttons
- Work for ad agencies, publishing houses, art and design firms, the movie industry, and government agencies
- Work with computers and graphics software and equipment, and on the Internet

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: A 4-year degree in graphic arts plus a portfolio of the artist's best works
- Employers Prefer: A master's degree in graphic arts plus a portfolio of the artist's best works
- Skills/Courses: College courses include graphic design, computer design, and related art studies. Students also learn how to assemble a portfolio of their best works.
