- Control the day-to-day use of a computer database
- Choose who can see which parts of a database by setting the user rights of each person
- Protect the database by backing it up daily
- Solve database problems and correct errors when they occur
- Work for the computer and data processing services industry, or in a computer services group in a large business or government agency
