Topics of Study

In this program, you will learn how to teach general science programs or a combination of the biological and physical science subject matter areas, at various educational levels. This includes biology, chemistry, and physics. Upper level courses focus on lesson planning, instructional techniques, assessment and evaluation techniques, and supervision and discipline strategies. You will observe an experienced teacher work with students. The teacher will also supervise your lesson plans. You will then teach those lessons to the students.

Degrees

• A bachelor's degree, plus additional training in the particular subject, is required to teach at the elementary or secondary education level.
• A graduate degree is usually required to teach in higher education, or to be a career or guidance counselor.
