Topics of Study

In this program, you will learn the structure and history, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, essay, and prose, of literature of English-speaking people of the British Isles and Commonwealth from the origin to present-day English. This program includes instruction in period and genre studies, author studies, literary criticism, and regional and oral traditions.

Degrees

• A bachelor's degree is desirable for most positions, especially if you plan to teach at the secondary level.
• A graduate degree is usually needed to teach in higher education.
