Work Tasks

MOTION PICTURE PROJECTIONISTS set up, operate, and adjust projection and sound-reproducing equipment to produce coordinated effects on screen. For feature-length movies they run two projectors, audio equipment, a rewinding machine, and seven or more reels of film. Motion picture projectionists regulate and adjust projection light and focus, volume, tone, and timing of projection equipment. Motion picture projectionists must also be able to maintain and make minor repairs on the equipment, such as replacing worn sprockets that could damage the film.
