MAIL CLERKS (EXCEPT POST OFFICE) move and distribute information, documents, and small packages for businesses, institutions, and government agencies. They handle internal mail for large organizations. Internal mail goes back and forth among people, offices, or departments within a company. Mail clerks also handle external mail, serving as a link between the U.S. Postal Service and individual offices and workers. They sort incoming mail and pass it on to the correct person, office, or department within the company. Mail clerks also prepare outgoing mail for delivery to the post office.

Entry Requirements

Employers prefer to hire MAIL CLERKS (EXCEPT POST OFFICE) who are high school graduates. Mail clerks are trained on the job. Mail clerks need no license or certificate.
