In this program, you will learn how to teach specific social science subjects and programs at various educational levels, including history, geography, and psychology. Upper level courses focus on lesson planning, instructional techniques, assessment and evaluation techniques, and supervision and discipline strategies. You will observe an experienced teacher work with students. The teacher will also supervise your lessons plans and you will then teach those lessons to the students. The supervising teacher provides ongoing advice and support.
- A bachelor's degree, plus additional training in the particular subject, is required to teach at the elementary or secondary education level.
- A graduate degree is usually required to teach in higher education, or to be a career or guidance counselor.
