Work Tasks

LASER TECHNICIANS construct and test prototype gas, solid-state, and other laser devices, applying the theory and principles of laser engineering and electronic circuits. They assemble the completed laser body chassis, and install and align electronic components, tubing, and wiring to connect controls, such as valves, regulators, dials, and switches. They set up precision electronic and optical instruments to test the laser device, using specified electrical or optical inputs. Laser technicians test the laser for gas leaks, using a leak detector. Technicians analyze test data and report results to engineering personnel.
