Entry Requirements

Employers increasingly prefer to hire TEACHER AIDES with some college training. Teacher aides who instruct usually need more training than those who do not. As a result of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, teacher aides in Title 1 schools (students of low-income households) must meet one of 3 requirements: minimum 2 years college, a 2-year or higher degree, or pass a state and local assessment. Many schools also require previous experience in working with children. A number of community colleges offer associate degree programs.
