Information and Resources for Students and Their Parents/Guardians in South Carolina

Students and parents/guardians of South Carolina:

When given the choice, more students choose the ACT.

The leading college entrance assessment, the ACT test leverages more than 50 years of research and a focus on student success to outpace the SAT. From 2011 to 2016 the number of students who took the ACT test grew by more than 500,000. Over the same period of time, fewer students took the SAT.

More Educational Opportunity

More exposure to colleges and scholarships is just one of the reasons students should opt in to the ACT Educational Opportunity Service (EOS for short) while taking the ACT. Read about all the reasons.

Scores you can trust

In 2016, the SAT introduced a major shift from testing aptitude to the ACT model of testing college and career readiness—which the ACT has always tested. Dramatic changes to assessments create a disruption in the score scale and create confusion about how to fairly compare student performance across years. ACT only makes incremental improvements that enhance the test.

Students are more than a score

The ACT includes a profile and education/career planning section to help students plan for life after high school. See all the features of the ACT score report and how students can use it to inform their future.

Educators have their say

Nearly 10,000 high school teachers, college professors, and business professionals participated in the most recent ACT National Curriculum Survey®, which informs the continued development of the ACT test. The SAT relies on a group of selected subject matter experts.
