The ACT Test Plan for the Future

Preparing for What Comes Next

New ACT Test Options Under Development

ACT is focused on helping people to prepare for whatever comes next. That's why we are developing new options for the ACT test to provide more opportunities for you to demonstrate your overall academic achievement and potential.

To give students more opportunities to take the ACT test this fall, we have added new test dates. Sign up to receive a notification when registration is open later in July.

Superscoring will be available September 2020. As we navigate these uncertain times, ACT will continue to update our release schedule based on what is best for all students.

New Fee Waiver and Score Sending Policies

While the ACT mission doesn’t change, the way in which we help people achieve education and workplace success continues to evolve. As the ACT test changes, so are the fee waiver and score sending policies.

Beginning in September 2020, unlimited free score reports will be available for students who have taken the ACT with a fee waiver so they may send their superscore or scores from any individual test, even those taken previously during the ACT National Test and State and District Test.

ACT also now offers four fee waivers to all qualifying students. These students can choose how they apply the waivers to maximize their potential for success in retesting and test preparation. Counselors can request fee waivers on behalf of qualifying students.
